Removing tough hard water deposits and rust stains

As an alternative to using caustic products, use undiluted vinegar or lemon juice and let sit before cleaning with a non-abrasive cleanser. For hard water rings on toilets, use a pumice stone. (Pumie brand scouring sticks—found at most hardware stores—won’t scratch porcelain sinks, tubs, tile, toilets, or showers. It’s not recommended for ceramic tile.) Make sure the pumice stone is wet and remains wet while you’re scrubbing.

Combining cleaning products

Avoid using multiple cleaners together. Because most cleaners don’t list their ingredients, you have no way of knowing if or how they may react when combined.

Tips on using simplyneutral

  • Always use no-scratch scrubbies!  Our cleaners won’t scratch any surfaces. They’re gentle on surfaces, people, and the environment.
  • Our cleanser could discolor aluminum.  Do not use on aluminum pots, pans, or drains.  (Don’t confuse aluminum with stainless steel. Stainless steel loves our cleanser because it’s so gentle.)
  • Our products can be used in combination of each other, or with vinegar, if needed.
  • Whenever using the cleanser, be sure to rinse well or a white film may appear when dry.

Sinks, microwaves, and countertops

Spray surface with all-purpose cleaner.  Wipe clean. For stains, stuck-on food, or hairspray grime, sprinkle with non-abrasive cleanser and spray all-purpose cleaner to form a paste. Clean with a no-scratch scrubbie. Rinse well. Your surface will look brand new!

Cook tops

For stubborn, burnt-on food, form a paste with the cleanser and all-purpose spray. Scrub with a no-scratch scrubbie. Rinse well.

Inside the oven :-(

Remove racks from the oven. Spray all-purpose cleaner inside until soaked well. Let sit with the door closed for a half hour. Sprinkle non-abrasive cleanser over any burnt-on food or stubborn spots. Spray with all-purpose cleaner to form a paste, let sit for five more minutes, then scrub.  Rinse very well. Form a paste with cleaners to scrub racks in the sink.

Inside the dishwasher

To remove hard water marks and other  unsightlies, spray entire surface with all-purpose cleaner and let sit for five minutes. Sprinkle cleanser and spray cleaner to form a paste. Scrub with no-scratch scrubbie. Rinse well.

Toilets

Spray entire toilet, including the bowl, lid, and base. Sprinkle cleanser inside the bowl, then scrub with a brush. Let sit a couple minutes and scrub again. Flush. Wipe remaining areas where you sprayed, using cleanser, if necessary. For stubborn hard water deposits, see the tips listed above.

Tub and shower

Spray entire tub and shower walls. Sprinkle non-abrasive cleanser in the tub and scrub. Re-spray walls and use cleanser, if necessary. Rinse well.

Shower doors (are the enemy!)

Use spray/cleanser combo to form a paste. Scrub with a no-scratch scrubbie. Rinse well. For tough hard water stains, spray undiluted distilled white vinegar first and let sit for five minutes. Re-spray with all-purpose cleaner and sprinkle scrub to form a paste. Scrub and rinse well.

Floors

To remove the stubborn scuff marks on your vinyl or hardwood floors, make cleanser into a paste using the all-purpose spray and scrub with a cloth. Rinse and wipe dry.
